and Friday, September 19 Psalter 278:1,2,5
by Stuart Townsend
Before Thee I kneel, my Master and Maker
To offer the work of my hands,
For this is the day Thou'st given Your servant;
I will rejoice and be glad:
For the strength I have to live and breathe,
For each skill Thy grace has given me,
For the needs and opportunities
That will glorify Thy great name.
Before Thee I kneel and ask for Thy goodness
To cover the work of my hands,
For patience and peace to shape all my labour,
Thy grace for thorns in my path.
Flow within me like a living stream,
Wear away the stones of pride and greed,
‘Til Thy ways are dwelling deep in me
And a harvest of life is grown.
Before Thee we kneel, our Master and Maker;
Establish the work of our hands,
And order our steps to seek first Thy kingdom
In every small and great task.
May we live the gospel of Thy grace,
Serve Thy purpose in our fleeting days,
Then our lives will bring eternal praise
And all glory to Thy great name,
And all glory to Thy great name.
Psalter 278
1. The tender love a father has
For all his children dear,
Such love the Lord bestows on them
Who worship Him in fear.
2. The Lord remembers we are dust,
And all our frailty knows;
Man's days are like the tender grass,
And as the flower he grows.
5. Those who His gracious covenant keep
The Lord will ever bless;
Their children's children shall rejoice
To see His righteousness.
